Stanley I. Andersen, age 73, a life-long resident of Loretta-Draper, died Thursday, Feb. 5 at Myrtle Worth Medical Center in Menomonie.
He was born March 25, 1913 at Chicago, IL, the son of Olaf and Matilda Johanssen Andersen. Stanley was married to Doris Hanson on April 29, 1939 at Winter.
He served int he US Army during WWII in the European Theater. He was a forestry clerk with the Civil Conservation Corps and worked in forest protection for the Wisconsin Conservation Dept.
He worked for Hines Lumber Company and for twenty-five years was a postmaster at Loretta, retiring in 1978. Stanley lived in Menomonie since June 1986.
He was a member of the US Air Force Reserve, Winter School Board, Draper Town Board, Sawyer County Citizens Committee, Comprehensive Planning Board, Sawyer County Board of Supervisors, Northwest Wisconsin CEP Inc. Planning Council, Calvary Lutheran Church in Draper, Ogilvie Lodge 326 F & AM, Zor Temple in Madison and Jensen0Hansen American Legion Post #394. Stanley had served as chairman of the board of Impact Seven, treasurer of Indianhead Community Action Agencym jury commissioner for twenty-five years and district director of SCF 548.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; one son, Marvin of Wausau, WI; two daughters, Judith Schleusner of Menomonie and Janice Nundahl of Naples, FL, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
