ELLA ACKLEY, PIONEER WINTER CITIZEN DIES AT LADYSMITH

Mrs. Ella Ackley, age 77, a pioneer resident of the Winter community passed away on Monday, February 19th, at St. Joseph’s on the Flambeau Nursing Home in Ladysmith.

She was born Ella LeBeouf, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph LeBeouf, pioneer residents of Winter, on April 12, 1895 at Hayward.

She spent her early life in Winter, attending the local school. She was married to Francis Marion (Chick) Ackley of Winter. Her husband preceded her in death on May 6, 1951.

Survivors include, one son, Russell, of Winter; four grandchildren, Lynn, Scott, Michael, and Jon Ackley; her daughter-in-law, Phyllis Ackley of Winter; one sister, Hazel Fitch, Duluth; one niece, Mrs. Henry B. Fleetwood, Seaboard, North Carolina; one nephew, Robert Fitch of Duluth, and several other nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at the McElravy-Geier Funeral Home in Ladysmith after 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Rosary services were held at St. Peter’s Church here on Wednesday evening at 8 p.m.

Funeral services were held today (Thursday) at 10 a.m. from St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Winter with Rev. Fr. Alphonse Zoltowski, Pastor, as celebrant.

Interment will be in the spring in the family lot in Winter Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Leonard Ehn, Jerome martin, Telford Fadness, Walter Langille, Steve Verlen and Art Kidd.
